Chapter 12
Setting: This time the setting is on the scaffold in town.
Significant Events: Dimmesdale goes to the scaffold, and when he's there he starts to think about everything. The governor died. Hester is on her way home from the governors house with Pearl and they see Dimmesdale up there so they join him. Dimmesdale promises Pearl they will all 3 stand up there one day, and that day will be judgement day. They all see a meteor in the sky the writes out an A. They see Chillingworth in the distance.
Characterization: Dimmesdale feels the need to tell and is starting to cope with what he has done.
Conflict: There is a conflict between Dimmesdale and Chillingworth. Chillingworth is killing Dimmesdale by making him feel guilty and so upset.
Symbols: The meteor is a symbol. The people of the town who see it thinks it meant Angel for the governor who just passed away.
Tone: This tone of this chapter was a mix of sad and depressing with sort of love.
Mysteries: What is Chillingworth going to do? Is Dimmesdale gonna come clean?
Say what?: "..asked Pearl, " to take my hand, and Mother's hand, tomorrow noontide?" "Not then, Pearl," said the minister, " but another time." " And what other time?" persisted the child. " At the great judgement day, " whispered the minister." This quote is when Pearl keeps asking Dimmesdale to go on the scaffold with her and Hester, in front of everybody and confess. Dimmesdale says no but says on judgment day. This is important because it will either be heaven judgement day or the living judgement day.

Chapter 13
Setting:The town of Boston
Significant Events: Hester isn't really alienated anymore. She does a lot of charity, and helps out the town a bunch. Everyone is quite shocked by everything she has done. And the A on her chest no longer means Adultery, now means Able.
Characterization: Hester becomes more of a strong women. She is also widely known and feels less unwanted.
Symbols: The scarlet letter is still a symbol, not it is viewed as able.
Tone: The tone makes me the reader feel happy for Hester. It also makes Hester seem really strong.
Mysteries: Is Dimmesdale going to confess?
Say what?: "Many people refused to interpret the scarlet A by its original signification. They said it meant Able; so strong was Hester Prynne, with a woman's strength." This is quoting how people don't see the A on her chest as they did. The significance was it made Hester feel strong and confident then she did before.

Chapter 14
Setting: Setting is still in town.
Significant Events: Hester confronts Chillingworth and demands him to stop tormenting Dimmesdale. Hester and Chillingworth both know he knows about Dimmesdale being the baby daddy. Chillingworth sees that he is changing and has been really mean. He suggests Hester and him be a thing again.
Characterization: Chillingworth went from a nice doctor and then turned into an evil man trying to seek revenge on Dimmesdale. He talks this over with Hester when they meet up.
Conflict: The conflict I guess is still between Chillingworth and Dimmesdale and what he's thinking of doing now.
Symbols: No new symbols. Still the scarlet letter.
Tone: I say this chapter has an honesty yet sneaky tone. You don't know what Chillingworth is gonna do.
Mysteries: What is Chillingworth gonna do? Is Dimmesdale gonna find out?
Say what?: " It was debated whether or no, with safety to the common weal, yonder scarlet letter might be taken off your bosom" Chillingworth tells Hester, yeah they were talking about that they might not make you wear that. Chillingworth before he said this also said he heard great things about Hester.

Chapter 15
Setting: Still in the town.
Significant Events: Hester admits she hates her husband, even though that is not allowed to say. Pearl asks a lot of questions to Hester, but Hester thinks she's too young but tried to answer them anyways.
Characterization: Pearl starts to put two and two together and is starting to figure things out. Hester just acts stronger in this chapter.
Conflict: Hester turns down Chillingworth
Symbols: Still the scarlet letter is the symbol.
Tone: The tone of this chapter is curiosity.
Mysteries: Now that Pearl is figuring out things, what she gonna do and how is she gonna react? What is Chillingworth thinking right now?
Say What?: " Yes, I hate him!" repeated Hester, more bitterly than before. " He betrayed me! He has done me worse wrong than I did him!" Hester isn't very happy in this quote, she goes on about how she hates Chillingworth. In this quote she even thinks he did her worse than what she did to him.
